One of the amazing aspects of living in the foothills is the dedication to fitness and staying active. The choices are endless, whether it be hiking, cross country skiing, tennis, pickleball, ping pong, classes, volleyball, fly fishing, softball, bridge… the list goes on and on. Many programs offer a senior discount (60+), a minimal co-pay or at no charge at all, if you are eligible to participate in the SilverSneakers® and Prime® Fitness Programs. The SilverSneakers®/Prime Fitness Program
This is an innovative health, exercise and wellness program helping older adults live healthy, active lifestyles. Get fit, have fun, make friends! Ask us if you qualify for the program. Enrollments are done at the Buchanan Park and Wulf Recreation Centers any time during open hours. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, resistance bands and a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for standing support.
Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout.
Get up and go with an aerobics class for you - safe, heart-healthy and gentle on the joints.
Move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
Aqua Stretch and Tone - Water Walking - Vortexercise - Water Aerobics*
Get a great low-impact workout variety from these water exercise classes. Stretch & Tone is a zero-impact, low-intensity class. Improves flexibility, range of motion and stretching techniques. Designed to aid in injury rehabilitation and alleviates issues associated with arthritis. Water Walking is a low- to moderate-impact and intensity. Improves fitness, balance and cardiovascular strength. Conducted in vortex with exercises taught with and against water current. Vortexercise class exercises vary in intensity levels to increase endurance, strength and cardiovascular ability. Conducted in vortex against water current. Water Aerobics classes offer a variety of workouts, incorporating both zero- and moderate-impact. Various intensity levels offered, including workouts to increase flexibility, range of motion and muscle strength.
We are excited to announce that we are bringing back BOOM, a series of fitness classes designed to help you live a more active lifestyle! BOOM classes are designed to meet the needs of Baby Boomers as well as older adults looking to take their fitness to the next level.
Improve range of motion, balance and flexibility in this Yoga/Pilates-fusion class. Learn techniques to relax your mind and engage your muscles through athletic-stretching techniques.
BOOM Move It*
Dance to the beat of hip hop and move to the rhythms of the mambo. Have fun and learn steps from every era in this great cardio workout.
Up your game in this strength-training class that consists of a series of exercises inspired by your favorite activities like golf, tennis and hiking.
All movements in this class are safe & appropriate for fully mobile seniors. Class varies by day. Monday: Get your heart pumping using aerobic step routines & stationary exercises with weight & tubes. Step is optional. Wednesday: Easier level exercises, seated & standing, challenging balance using small ball, weights, tubes & Glides. Friday: Soft relaxing music starting with easy yoga movements then down to floor stretching & lengthening muscles to increase range of motion. Use bands, weights & stability ball. Must be able to rise from floor but chair is available.
Cardio Dance Gold*
This is not your traditional dance class. This class is easy to follow and combines a mixture of fun rhythms and dance styles to bring your heart rate up. Come let yourself go and have some fun!
A series of stretching and strength exercises performed in a sequence to strengthen your core (abs, back, hips, and glutes). $3 co-pay and card swipe for SilverSneakers® and Prime® Fitness participants.
Class is appropriate for all fitness levels, as modifications will be offered to accommodate individual limitations. Join Liz Deville for a fun and effective workout using the Swiss balls, tubing, and Foam rollers. You can expect to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and achieve better alignment through this logical exercise discipline. $3 co-pay and card swipe for SilverSneakers® and Prime® Fitness participants.
TRX for Beginners
Introduction to TRX. Come to this class to learn proper form and technique in a self paced and relaxed environment. Great for beginners and SilverSneakers®! $3 co-pay and card swipe for SilverSneakers® or Prime® Fitness participants.
Come join us for America' s fastest growing sport. Pickleball is played similarly to tennis on smaller courts. Games can be played indoors or outdoors and as singles or doubles.
