Older Adults Staying in Shape!
One of the amazing aspects of living in the foothills is the dedication to fitness and staying active. The choices are endless, whether it be hiking, cross country skiing, tennis, pickleball, ping pong, classes, volleyball, fly fishing, softball, bridge… the list goes on and on. Many programs offer a senior discount (60+), a minimal co-pay or at no charge at all, if you are eligible to participate in the SilverSneakers® and Prime® Fitness Programs. The SilverSneakers®/Prime Fitness Program
This is an innovative health, exercise and wellness program helping older adults live healthy, active lifestyles. Get fit, have fun, make friends! Ask us if you qualify for the program. Enrollments are done at the Buchanan Park and Wulf Recreation Centers any time during open hours. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, resistance bands and a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for standing support.
Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout.
Get up and go with an aerobics class for you - safe, heart-healthy and gentle on the joints.
Move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
Aqua Stretch and Tone - Water Walking - Vortexercise - Aqua Aerobics
What a great way to get that low-impact stretch, work out a sore muscle or just laugh with your friends as you fight the vortex current.
Bring your smiles, laughs and lots of energy for an hour of “just feel good” fun while conditioning your heart and strengthening your muscles. Experience a variety of safe movements that will challenge your body while adapting to your special needs, and end it all with gentle stretching. We use a chair, but most work is done standing.
Known as the Zumba “pool party,” Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. This class integrates the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines. $3.00 co-pay and card swipe for SilverSneakers® and Prime® Fitness participants.
A series of stretching and strength exercises performed in a sequence to strengthen your core (abs, back, hips, and glutes). $3 co-pay and card swipe for SilverSneakers® and Prime® Fitness participants.
Come join us for America' s fastest growing sport. Pickleball is played similarly to tennis on smaller courts. Games can be played indoors or outdoors and as singles or doubles. Each session is open to the public at Wulf Recreation Center. For more information click here. SilverSneakers® participants are welcome under their SilverSneakers® membership.
What a great way to keep that competitive edge, work on your spin shots, work up a sweat or just practice hitting the ball. This totally fun sport is offered at Buchanan Park Recreation Center. For more information click here. No charge to SilverSneakers® or Prime® Fitness participants.
