Evergreen Park & Recreation District offers a wide variety of fitness and wellness opportunities. Our goal is to fulfill the physical needs of our patrons by providing classes that are geared for all fitness levels and abilities. Insanity Experience Shaun T’s popular and incredibly effective high-intensity cardio interval workout in a class setting at Buchanan Recreation Center! Simple cardio moves repeated in varying intensities interspersed with body weight only strength drill provides a great way to improve your fitness level and burn fat and calories. Join the insanity!


Get fit FAST and have fun doing P90X®! This class combines a variety of exercise techniques including cardio, strength training, Yoga and Plyometrics.

PiYo Live

PiYo Live is a combination of Pilates and mind/body practices of Yoga. It consists of an athletic workout that includes stretching, conditioning and dynamic movements. This pre-designed class includes a constant flow of moves to upbeat empowering music. It will definitely get your heart rate going with the benefits of deep breathing, balance, stretching, strengthening and relaxation. Come sweat and get your blood pumping with some invigorating PiYo Live!

Turbo Kick Burn calories and blast fat! Turbo Kick® mixes kickboxing and simple dance moves with music that makes you want to move it! You’ll love having fun and losing weight. It won’t even seem like you’re working out. The unique Turbo Kick® movement patterns, combinations and techniques work together to give YOU the ultimate cardiovascular workout that will melt fat and reshape your body! Each full body workout consists of a sport specific warm-up, higher paced intervals, easy to follow combinations, kickboxing specific strength/endurance training and a mind/body like cool-down designed to maximize weight loss!

You’ve seen the smiles, you’ve felt the energy - it’s Zumba! This workout combines high energy and motivating music with simple synchronized dance movements designed for any fitness level. Aerobic fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms tones and sculpts the body. Then Zumba is for you! No dance experience necessary.

Cardiovascular and Strength Training Classes

Barre Above

An eclectic and progressive method of Barre training for all bodies, this class creates strength, flexibility, and balance.

Body Shred

Join us for a quick 30-minute high-intensity & endurance workout that will shred fat and define muscle. The interval method consists of 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. (BACK IN THE FALL)

Butts n Guts PLUS Cardio

The ultimate Cardio, Glute and Core class - tighten, firm, tone and strengthen low back, glutes, obliques and abdominal muscles. Bosu will be added for balance and complete core work.

Conditioning & Core

This is a whole body workout that can improve your overall fitness. A combination of weighted and resistance-based exercises, sculpting and toning-based exercises followed by core strength training is sure to deliver all-round benefits from head to toe. You’ll be better toned and physically fitter and you’ll probably feel like a "better you"!

Strength Camp

A total-body 60-minute class focusing on all areas of fitness: cardiovascular, strength, core and functional flexibility. Exercise and intensity will progress as your fitness level progresses. Takes place at the base of the pinnacle.

Power Hour

A variety of resistance and conditioning circuits interspersed with plyometric intervals for a challenging and fun total body workout.  All levels welcome!

Total Body Fusion

This class will keep you on the move! It combines resistance training, cardio and core exercises to create a total-body transformation. All levels welcome!

Mind/Body Classes

Mind/Body classes focus on improving your flexibility, strength, and balance while enhancing your posture, coordination, and mental focus. Yoga and Pilates classes are a great way to quiet the chatter of daily life, relieve stress, and feel great.

Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates is a series of stretching and strength exercises performed in a sequence to strengthen your core (abs, back, hips, and glutes). This class is also available to SilverSneakers® participants for a $3 co-pay and card swipe. Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center.

Functional Pilates

Class is appropriate for all fitness levels, as modifications will be offered to accommodate individual limitations. Join Liz Deville for a fun and effective workout using Swiss balls, tubing and foam rollers. You can expect to develop strength, flexibility and balance, and to achieve better alignment through this logical exercise discipline. This class is available to SilverSneakers® participants for a $3 co-pay & card swipe.

New! Nia Technique

Enjoy holistic cardio fitness on the dance floor. NIA Technique is an energizing, expressive blend of dance, martial arts and healing, done barefoot to worldbeat music. Class drop-ins are available for $15 DR $19 NDR. Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center.

Sridaiva Yoga

Sridaiva is a postural alignment practice that places the natural curves back into the spine. All systems are strengthened when the muscles of the front and back of the body are conditioned with optimal alignment. This will create profound therapeutic change by supporting a healthy spine, pelvis and mental attitude. Our class will define all basic alignments of the bowspring and proper positioning for the hands, feet, legs and arms. Come place the spring back into your step and/or become a stronger athlete by rediscovering and strengthening your natural, curved spinal alignment called the "bowspring".

StrengthFlow Yoga

This class utilizes elements from Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi to build strength and flexibility, while improving your mind-body awareness to leave you feeling more calm and centered. Focused breathing combined with structured poses, moves and stretches creates a challenging class attainable for all, while rejuvenating and realigning the body to create a sense of harmony, balance and fluidity. This format strengthens your muscles and joints while increasing flexibility and range of movement to protect against injury.

Sunrise Yoga

An hour long stretch for the whole body that incorporates Yoga poses, breathing, and a slow controlled stretch. This class is for all levels. Improve your Yoga practice or try something new!

Evening Yoga Flow

Join us for a relaxing evening yoga class.. Participants will focus on breathing combined with structured poses, moves and stretches creating a challenging class attainable for all, while rejuvenating and realigning the body to create a sense of harmony, balance and fluidity. This format strengthens your muscles and joints while increasing flexibility and range of movement to protect against injury. Classes meet Monday/Thursday from 5:30 - 6:30 PM. Location Buchanan Park Recreation Center.

Vinyasa Yoga

This class teaches the fundamentals of Vinyasa Yoga, including sun salutations, standing poses, balancing postures and core strengthening. Practice moving into and out of postures safely and with correct alignment. Uses the breath, learn to quiet your mind to find peace and inner stillness.

TRX Suspension Training

The TRX Suspension Training class for all fitness levels is a 50-minute class including a warm-up and a stretch cool-down. This class is open to both “newbies” and those familiar with suspension training. Exercise selection and work intervals will be decided by the instructor based on the experience of attendees. Participants can modify or intensify exercises as needed.

Triathlon Training


What do triathletes do during the off-season? The off-season is the time to optimize your workout frequency, focus on functional strength and conditioning, build your endurance base and also add some shorter, harder efforts as key workouts so you can prepare for your upcoming race season! This 12 week off-season conditioning program is designed for triathletes, runners, cyclists and swimmers who want to stay active and fit during the fall/winter months. The main goal of this group training format is to work on skills which will allow you better success as you begin your specific training program in 2017 for upcoming races in the Spring and Summer. Do you have a weakness in a particular area? This is the time to work on technique and strengthen it! Are you prone to injuries? This is the program to help you work on functional fitness to strengthen and condition the body. Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center.  Will return spring 2017.
