Evergreen Park & Recreation District offers a wide variety of fitness and wellness opportunities. Our goal is to fulfill the physical needs of our patrons by providing classes that are geared for all fitness levels and abilities. Come discover and attain your hidden fitness potential in a professional, relaxed and non-pressured environment.

Zumba Logo You've seen the smiles, you've felt the energy, Zumba!! This workout combines high energy and motivating music with simple synchronized dance movements designed for any fitness level. The routines feature aerobic fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Want to burn some calories and have a GREAT time? Then Zumba is for you! NO dance experience necessary! Below: EPRD Zumba instructor Patricia Hamarat led a spirited workout at Buchanan Field on Sunday, August 26, during the Youth and Sports Expo, sponsored by EPRD and the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce. Zumba is back with a new instructor!

Cardiovascular and Strength Training Classes

New! Summer Boot Camp

Want to have FUN while exercising outside? Get the optimal calorie burn, increase speed, improve coordination and stamina, increase agility and strength? Achieve your fitness goals with this high energy workout. This all inclusive class is a MUST for your overall fitness pursuits. Join the fun and GET RESULTS! All levels are welcome!!

O.A.S.I.S. Mid Tempo

O.A.S.I.S. classes are designed for Older Adults Staying In Shape. This class combines aerobic, flexibility and strength training in a positive, energizing environment. We include exercises that are designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance. This low impact workout is great for beginners.

Cardio Box

This class will combine boxing, high intensity power moves, and circuit training with kettlebells all equaling an overall empowering workout. All levels are welcome!

Muscle Max

Strictly strength training using dumbbells, body bars, bands, and other strength modalities. No cardio intervals, but heart pumping just the same as you take your muscles to the max.

Bosu 20/20/20

Your workout will begin with 20 minutes of heart-pumping cardio on the Bosu to improve balance, core stabilization, speed and agility followed by 20 minutes of Bosu Functional Strength for the entire body and ending with 20 minutes of complete abdominal and lower back conditioning.

High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.)

H.I.I.T is a form of interval training that involves short intervals of maximum intensity exercise separated by longer intervals of low to moderate intensity exercise. The class trains and conditions both your anaerobic and aerobic energy systems, it causes metabolic adaptations that enable you to use more fat as fuel under a variety of conditions, and it increases the amount of calories you burn during your exercise session. Class is 75 minutes with 15 minutes of CrossCore - rotational bodyweight training to strengthen your abs, low back, obliques, and more! All fitness levels welcome!

Interval Training

A one-hour conditioning class that alternates between high-intensity cardio work and strength training, targeting all major muscle groups. This class will increase general cardiorespiratory fitness, endurance and recovery as well as build sculpted, lean and effective muscles.

StrollerFit

This stroller based program brings together moms and their little ones in a 45-minute, total body workout. All fitness levels will enjoy the benefits of cardio drills, strength training, stretching, and core blasting! It doesn’t matter if you are a pregnant mom, a new mom, or a conditioned mom with one or two stroller aged children… come see what your body can do! Location: Buchanan Park Rec Center.

Adult Fitness

A total body 60-minute class focusing on all areas of fitness: cardiovascular, strength, core, and functional flexibility. Exercise and intensities will progress as your fitness levels progress. Takes place at the base of the pinnacle. Location Buchanan Park Recreation Center.

Mind/Body Classes

Mind/Body classes focus on improving your flexibility, strength, and balance while enhancing your posture, coordination, and mental focus. Yoga and Pilates classes are a great way to quiet the chatter of daily life, relieve stress, and feel great.

Yoga For All Levels

This class is geared for both beginner and intermediate levels and will be centered around progressions through standing and sitting postures, back bends, balancing the Asanas with Pranayama (especially Ujjayi breath), and meditation. Two different days to choose from.

Gentle Restorative Yoga

Gentle Restorative Yoga is a relaxing and slow-paced class where you can turn inward and allow time to get in touch with your own inner resources and guidance. Restorative poses help relieve the effects of chronic stress and physical pain in several ways. Be guided by an experienced Yogini. This class is available to SilverSneakers® Participants for a $3.00 co-pay and card swipe. Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center.

Vinyasa I

This class teaches the fundamentals of vinyasa yoga, including sun salutations, standing poses, balancing poses, balancing postures and core strengthening. Practice moving into and out of postures safely and with correct alignment. Uses the breath, learn to quiet your mind to find peace and inner stillness. Instructor: Susan Wescott

Vinyasa II

This class focuses on balance, core work and breathing as we flow through yoga poses. A more challenging class, that builds on intermediate to advanced poses that continue to improve strength and flexibility. Instructor: Susan Wescott

Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates is a series of stretching and strength exercises performed in a sequence to strengthen your core (abs, back, hips, and glutes). This class is available to SilverSneakers® participants for a $3.00 co-pay and card swipe. Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center.
