Aquatic Classes Info
The District offers three class levels for children ages 3-5 (Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Preschool), and three levels for children ages 6 and older (Levels 1-2, 3, and 4-5). Skill competency is required to move to the next level. There are no make-up classes offered for absenteeism. During all swim classes, parents and siblings of participants must remain in the bleachers and keep the deck area clear for safety.
Special Information
Staff recommends registering for two consecutive sessions for steady skill improvement. No refund or make-up for missed classes. If the class you desire is full, you may be put on the wait list.
Student Transfer Guidelines
Transfers will only be approved if space is available in the class. A $5 fee is charged for transfers & refunds. Refunds have an additional $10 processing fee charge.
Preschool Classes
Aquatic Parent-Tot (ages 8 months - 5 years)
For ages 8 months to 5 years, who have little or no water experience (This includes the apprehensive child). Learn basic water adjustment skills and enjoy the fun the aquatic environment offers with your child. One parent per child and infants must wear swim diapers. T-shirts are allowed for warmth. Aquatic Beginner 3's (ages 33 months - 3 1/2 years)
For ages 33 months to 3 1/2 years, to prepare young children for the Beginner Preschool class. Parents do not get in the water with participants and upon successful completion student should enroll in a Beginner Preschool class. Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center. Aquatic Beginner Preschool (ages 3 - 5)
For ages 3 through 5, who have little or no water experience and need instructor assistance to perform all their skills. Aquatic Intermediate Preschool (ages 3 - 5)
For ages 3 years through 5, who are comfortable, adjusted and have ability to swim unassisted for five yards with their face in the water. Upon successful completion at WRC participant should enroll in Advanced Preschool and at BPRC enroll in Intermediate Preschool at WRC. Location: Buchanan Park & Wulf Recreation Center. Aquatic Advanced Preschool (ages 4 - 6)

Level Classes
Aquatic Level 1-2 (ages 5 1/2+)
For ages 5 1/2 years and older who have little or no water experience. Class conducted in shallow water and basic water adjustment skills and water exploration are taught. Upon successful completion at WRC participant should enroll in Level 3 and at BPRC enroll in Level 1-2 at WRC for deep water skills. Location: Buchanan Park & Wulf Recreation Center. Aquatic Level 3 (ages 5 1/2+)
For ages 5 1/2 years and older who are safe, comfortable, and can perform all their skills in the deep water without instructor assistance. Diving from the pool edge is introduced. Aquatic Level 4-5 (ages 5 1/2+)

Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA)
CARA Swim Team (ages 6 - 17)
The CARA swim team is designed for participants whose skills are between swim lessons and more serious competitive teams. There are three practices/week. Competitive Stroke
Competitive Stroke Clinic (ages 5 1/2+)
For students who have completed our Level 4-5 or who swim for local summer clubs, including CARA, who want to continue working on their stroke technique. Evergreen Hurricanes Swim Team
The Evergreen Hurricane Swim Team has been awarded the “Bronze Medal Club” Award from USA swimming for its program development and accomplishments. The team offers a year-round competitive program for ages 5 and above with all levels of ability. Coach Jeff Armstrong offers tremendous experience and a great attitude and invites you to try swimming with the Hurricanes. Private/Semi-Private Lessons
Aquatic Private/Semi-Private Lessons
Contact the aquatic offices and schedule classes prior to paying for this program. Payment must be made in advance and is not refunded for a missed lesson unless cancellations are made 24 hours or more in advance. 40-minute lessons are recommended for older children and adults. |
