Robotics using LEGO® WeDo (ages 7 - 9)

Build and program robots in this introductory Robotics class using the LEGO WeDo system. Learn basic programming skills, simple engineering concepts, and robot components. Work in small groups to complete projects using several sensors. This is a great way to prepare young Robotics enthusiasts for our more advanced Robotics programs. Location: Miller House. Robotics Using LEGO® EV3 (ages 9 - 14)

Build and program robots using the new LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 system! Learn about mechanical design, loops, conditional statements, and problem solving. Work in small groups, programming and building your robot. Control the robot to avoid obstacles, carry objects, and play sounds. Jedi Engineering with LEGO® (ages 5 - 12)

Young Jedi will explore worlds far, far away and engineering principles right in front of them. Defeat the Empire by designing and refining LEGO® X-Wings, R2-units, and settlements on far-flung edges of the galaxy. Imagination and engineering combine to create motorized and architectural projects such as energy catapults, shield generators and defense turrets. Location: Miller House. LEGO® Bash’em Bots (ages 9 - 14)

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a massive motorized LEGO machine? Our Play Well Engineering instructors guide students in this advanced Play-Well engineering camp, as they re-engineer standard LEGO vehicles into mechanized machines that can traverse challenging obstacles, battle against fellow bots, and take on Play-Well Instructors' colossal creations. Lunch will be supervised by Instructors. Please be sure to bring snacks and lunch for the day. Location: Miller House.

Mad Science delivers a unique, hands-on science experiences for children that are as entertaining as they are educational.

Crayola Design & Science Sampler

Crayola: World of Design is a summer camp that takes kids on a journey to the edges of their imagination and beyond! They learn about Mars, the rainforest, and cities of the future, and get engaged in the creative design process to solve real-world problems. Each camp day focuses on a specific field of design, and our young architects, illustrators and graphic designers develop their ideas from concept, to sketch, to finished product. They bring their concepts to life by experimenting with Crayola® products, and exploring art techniques like sculpting, storyboarding, mixed media, and collage. Combining art, design, fun active games and inspiring themes from around the world, this camp is designed to inspire! Taught in the AM.

Super Science Sampler: Explore five of the coolest branches of science on your way to becoming a Junior Mad Scientist! Take a look at the inner workings of the human body, study the Earth and learn how to make it a better place, experiment with Newton's Laws of Motion, stir up some crazy concoctions and learn how investigators use science to solve crimes! Secret communications and detective crime science, the inner workings of security systems, and even mysteries to solve are part of this exciting week. We will explore it all. Engineering Academy

Do you love to build, design and fix things? Put on your engineer's hat for this exciting week of science activities. We'll learn about catapults, bridges and domes. This camp is made up of the daily topics listed below. Junior Engineers - Shapes, structures, designs will all be explored during this day as a junior architect. Machine Mania - Machine Mania introduces us to basic machines that help us with our everyday lives. Levers, pulley's, hydraulics and pneumatics are all part of this day exploring physics. Electrical Engineering - Basic electronics start the day followed with practical applications of electricity in circuits and motion. Building on Earth - We look at how to build great structures on the different surfaces of the earth.Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center.

Jedi/Fencing Camp

Jedi Camp - 9 AM - 12 PM
Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away the Jedi Knights protected the innocent from evildoers. Now is your child's time to join the Jedi ranks and become heroes! All participants will learn how to train their mind and body to become the greatest heroes of all time. Jedi trainees will learn how to wield a lightsaber to fight off the evil Sith warriors and save the universe! At this camp, your child will learn how to use the lightsabers in theatrical fighting, participate in strength and agility training using various exercises and games, learn Jedi lore and history and learn how to put together a massive battle.

Fencing Camp - 1 - 4 PM
This camp is designed for participants of all skill levels. Beginner fencers will understand the fundamentals of fencing after one week of practice. Campers will learn the history of fencing, footwork and blade work (parries and ripostes). Coaches will provide level-appropriate instruction for all progressive fencers. The program will also provide a focused and fun camp for intermediate and progressive saber fencers, offered by truly outstanding coaches. More advanced fencers will refine fundamentals, learn new techniques and develop more effective competitive strategies. Full-day - bring a lunch.  Youth Fishing Camp

Youth Fishing Summer Day Camp

Evergreen Trout Unlimited (ETU) Fishing Camp provides expert instruction by ETU members on the basics and fun of fishing. ETU has been involved with teaching kids about trout and flyfishing i.e., running the 4th of the July Kid's Fishing Clinic at Evergreen Lake and organizing kids' fishing camps at the Buchanan Park Rec Center.

Youth Fishing Camp (ages 7 - 14)

Evergreen Trout Unlimited Fishing Camp provides expert instruction on the basics and fun of fishing: fly tying, elementary entomology (study of insects), rod handling, casting a fly and understanding proper angling ethics. Camp includes fishing on the Buchanan Ponds with a Evergreen Trout Unlimited member, a free T-shirt, fly box with flies, a picnic lunch, bottled water and soda. Rods and flies are also provided. Please dress for the weather so bring sunscreen, a hat, a raincoat, and sun glasses. Space is limited. Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center. Outdoor Climbing

Intro to Outdoor Climbing Camp (ages 10 - 18)

Experience outdoor rock climbing on ropes at some of the best areas the Front Range has to offer. During this camp you will learn the techniques needed to climb outdoors as well as how to be a safe and responsible member of the outdoor community. Weather permitting. Camp will be held inside at Buchanan's climbing pinnacle in the case of inclement weather. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for a day in the mountains. Pastel, Collage, & Ice Cream

You will love our first ever, pastel, collage, and ice-cream making camp. In another amazing camp, we will create cool shaded oil and chalk pastel projects. With collage, we will use a combination and collection of various things to make a collage horse marionette, and ice cream art.
