EPRD Spotlights on our Members, the Evergreen Community and our Rec Centers

Member Spotlight:

Kingsley Rodriguez - Basketball

Member Spotlight: Kingsley Rodriguez

Kingsley is one of the most outgoing people in Evergreen, so it’s no wonder he fits right in at Wulf Recreation Center. Whether Kingsley is lifting weights or playing basketball, you can always find him striking up a conversation. “It’s all about the social element,” says the 24 year old member since January of 2022. Kingsley moved to Evergreen after a season spent exploring Alaska! He recently hit his weight loss goal, and celebrated by shooting hoops at Wulf with his community!

“I just love talking to the different people here, and how everyone comes from different walks of life. Some members are just starting their fitness journey, others have been members for years. But all members have a unique story to share.” - K Rodriguez.

Evergreen Park and Recreation District is pleased to announce the preliminary results for the election of three members to EPRD's Board of Directors: Betsy Hays received 1161 votes, Peter Eggers received 1023 votes and Mary McGhee received 508 votes. These three were the top vote-getters in a field of eight candidates. Other candidates were Kristin Courington with 489 votes, Al Buenning with 380 votes, Chris Lewis with 374 votes, Jeff Shappard with 319 votes and James Steven Beck with 157 votes.

Official results will be announced May 17, due to requirements of the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, which mandates a later deadline to receive absentee ballots from uniformed and overseas citizens eligible to vote in the EPRD Board election. After the official results have been certified on May 17, our candidates will be notified if a recount is required.

EPRD's New Gymnastics Floor at WRC

Gymnastics Carpet Install March 2022

Did you know that EPRD installed a new gymnastics carpet at Wulf Recreation Center? Purple was the obvious choice for the new floor, as it matches our competitive team’s leotards! Luckily, our floor boards and springs were still in great shape, and only the carpet and foam needed to be replaced. Some of the old carpet’s bonded foam was also in good shape, so our team was able to repurpose several pieces. This process enabled us to build an even surface for optimal gymnastics training. It took three days to complete the carpet replacement, which was last replaced in 2013. The new carpet was purchased from TC Gym Supply, which would not have been possible without funding from the Lightningboltz Team Booster Club and the district’s Capital Improvement Project fund. Thank you EPRD gymnastics and maintenance staff for working hard to complete this project!
