The Evergreen Park and Recreation District Board of Directors is pleased to announce Cory Vander Veen as EPRD’s next Executive Director.
From Cory Vander Veen:
As a Colorado native, I have been in Recreation for over 17 years starting my career as a lifeguard at Apex in Arvada. I am very active in ice hockey, camping, rafting, fishing, swimming, hiking, and mountain biking.
I am very excited to join the EPRD team, as it is the ideal opportunity for me to work in a strategic, adaptable, forward-thinking, and team oriented atmosphere. My skills include organizational changes from creating cost recovery models, to balancing a complex subsidy budget. I have been able to create high-quality functioning teams that are flexible that have been able to adapt to change successfully.
My role as Assistant Parks and Recreation Director in Texas encompassed large capital projects, open space acquisition, operation of 40 parks, 32 miles of hike/bike trails, 3 gymnasiums, 2 public pools, 50 buildings and structures, over 55 athletics fields, cemetery, 18-hole golf course, professional disc golf course, sports complex, and emergency dome. My vision for making lasting improvements for the City of Brownsville and the City of Aspen has been the result of my leadership skills and strong communication with staff members, the City Manager, commissioners, and multiple city boards.
