Evergreen Park & Recreation District has won a grant for 7 weeks of labor from Youth Corps for weed mitigation at Evergreen Parks, beginning in summer, 2024.  Funds for this project were awarded by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), which receives a portion of Colorado Lottery proceeds, to the Colorado Youth Corps Association for use by accredited conservation service corps. The goal of the program is to employ crews throughout the state on critical outdoor recreation and land conservation projects in partnership with local governments and open space agencies.

EPRD will work with regional partners, Jeffco Open Space and Denver, to design a weed mitigation plan that is environmentally sensitive and sustainable to mitigate invasive species propagation in the future. EPRD recognizes that controlling invasive species on public land is critical to the environmental health, wildlife habitats, wildfire mitigation, and park user experience.
