Build and program robots using the new LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 system! Learn about mechanical design, loops, conditional statements, and problem solving. Mine, Craft, Build Adventure Game with LEGO® (ages 5 - 6)

Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO® bricks! Resourcefulness, creativity, and cooperation come together in this unique building adventure game; roll the dice to mine for resources, and use these resources to build special items to help in our adventures! Build a Zoo, create a Medieval Castle, and design a Tree House Village! This experience is an original game designed by Play-Well instructors inspired by the popular game, Minecraft. Mad Science delivers a unique, hands-on science experiences for children that are as entertaining as they are educational.

Mad Science Eureka (ages 6 - 11)

Inspire the inventor and scientist in you during this week of discovery and invention! This camp will introduce children to a variety of famous inventors from history, as well as teach them about the patent process and inspire them to create inventions of their own! Mad Science Artist's Passport (ages 5 - 11)

Embark on an around-the-world cultural adventure ? explore far-off places and learn about the people who live there, from the Americas to Polynesia, from the cosmopolitan to the countryside. Experiment with Crayola® products, while trying art techniques developed by local artists and artisans. Make different masterpieces each day such as drums, masks, canvases, prints, buses, and more! Mad Science Red Hot Robots (ages 8 - 12)

Join Mad Science for a week of discovery and fun in this five-day Robotics Camp! Investigate robotic fundamentals with curious robots, learn about the history and current field of robotics, explore robot design potential and build ingenious robots to take home. We will explore circuits, electricity, sensors, gears, and advanced robotic applications. Learn about the mechanical aspects of robots with gears, gear ratios, and torque. Tech Academy Intro to Coding with Super Heroes (ages 5 - 8)

Create YOUR OWN VIDEO GAME! Love video games? Students as young as 5 years old can create their own platform video games in this cool class! Choose your storyline with popular super heroes; add challenges and levels of difficulty, then share by email or post on the web to challenge family and friends. Now young students can practice math, logic, and programming and put their video game talents to work! The game will be in an animated flash format, viewable in most internet browsers. Bring a jump drive to the last day of class, or files can be emailed to parents. Please bring a drink and snack daily. Location: Miller House. Tech Academy Java Mind Craft (ages 10 - 14)

Students working on individual computers will be introduced to object-oriented programming and elements of the Java language, while learning to code their text-based RPG (Role-Playing Game). No programming experience is necessary, but familiarity with doing common tasks using a computer operating system (text editing and understanding directory structures) and keyboarding is required. Bring a USB drive, snacks, and drink each day. Location: Miller House.

Tech Academy Python Coding (ages 8 - 12)

Get a great head start in learning how to code using one of the key programming languages used by professional developers - Python. Its syntax allows programmers to express concepts in fewer lines of code than would be possible in languages such as C++ or Java, making it the perfect coding language for beginners. Python is a text-based language; students should have keyboarding and basic computer skills. Please bring a drink and snack daily. Location: Miller House. Tech Academy Minecraft Game Design (ages 5 - 10)

Don't just play Minecraft! Turn Minecraft from a game into a visual learning tool! This class will reinforce problem solving skills and spatial cognition by teaching students to create in-game puzzles, mazes, and obstacle courses. Students will learn basic game design skills while they collaborate to build adventure maps, as well as some advanced features of Minecraft, such as command blocks. Jedi/Fencing Camp

Jedi Camp - 9 AM - 12 PM
Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away the Jedi Knights protected the innocent from evildoers. Now is your child's time to join the Jedi ranks and become heroes! All participants will learn how to train their mind and body to become the greatest heroes of all time. Jedi trainees will learn how to wield a lightsaber to fight off the evil Sith warriors and save the universe! At this camp, your child will learn how to use the lightsabers in theatrical fighting, participate in strength and agility training using various exercises and games, learn Jedi lore and history and learn how to put together a massive battle.

Fencing Camp - 1 - 4 PM
This camp is designed for participants of all skill levels. Beginner fencers will understand the fundamentals of fencing after one week of practice. Campers will learn the history of fencing, footwork and blade work (parries and ripostes). Coaches will provide level-appropriate instruction for all progressive fencers. The program will also provide a focused and fun camp for intermediate and progressive saber fencers, offered by truly outstanding coaches. More advanced fencers will refine fundamentals, learn new techniques and develop more effective competitive strategies. Full-day - bring a lunch. Youth Fishing Clinic (ages 10+)

Evergreen Trout Unlimited (ETU) Fishing Clinic provides expert instruction by ETU members on the basics and fun of fishing. ETU has been involved with teaching kids about trout and flyfishing i.e., running the 4th of the July Kid's Fishing Clinic at Evergreen Lake and organizing kids' fishing clinics at the Buchanan Park Rec Center.

Youth Fishing Clinic (Spring)

Evergreen Trout Unlimited Fishing Clinic provides expert instruction on the basics and fun of fishing: fly tying, elementary entomology (study of insects), rod handling, casting a fly and understanding proper angling ethics. Clinic includes fishing on the Buchanan Ponds with a Evergreen Trout Unlimited member, a free T-shirt, fly box with flies, a picnic lunch, bottled water and soda. Rods and flies are also provided. Please dress for the weather so bring sunscreen, a hat, a raincoat, and sun glasses. Space is limited. Location: Buchanan Park Recreation Center.

Students will develop a stronger sense of imagination, literacy, expression and communication through on camera conversations that reinforce a positive self-image. PLEASE NOTE: there is an hour between the two camps so if students sign up for both students will not be supervised from Noon-1 PM.

Talk to the Camera - YOUth TUBEr

Does your kid love You Tube videos, and/or create their own videos in hopes of being the next YOUth TUBEr? In this camp each kiddo creates their own videos. Our professionals do the editing. The final class movie will be available for viewing on our website within a month after the last class. Location: Wulf Recreation Center. Talk to the Camera - YOUth TUBEr Plus+

Does your kid want to create their own videos and become the next YOUth TUBEr sensation? In this class, students learn on-camera presence, content creation & editing in a hands-on collaborative environment! While kids are having a BLAST and proud of their amazing videos, parents enjoy the benefits of improved eye contact, public speaking, active listening, and social communication skills. This class is a win-win! For creating content, students can bring their own apple device or work with one of our shared devices. Outdoor Climbing (ages 10 - 18)

Intro to Outdoor Climbing Camp

Experience outdoor rock climbing on ropes at some of the best areas the Front Range has to offer. During this camp you will learn the techniques needed to climb outdoors as well as how to be a safe and responsible member of the outdoor community. Weather permitting. Camp will be held inside at Buchanan's climbing pinnacle in the case of inclement weather. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for a day in the mountains. Pastel, Collage, & Ice Cream

You will love our first ever, pastel, collage, and ice-cream making camp. In another amazing camp, we will create cool shaded oil and chalk pastel projects. With collage, we will use a combination and collection of various things to make a collage horse marionette, and ice cream art.
