MTB - Co-Ed Clinic - Bergen Peak - Rock Gardens & Tech.Prog.

Build confidence and control at Bergen Peak, a classic Front Range ride known for its sustained rock gardens, rooty sections, and punchy climbs that require precise line choice and strong bike handling.
This clinic is entirely trail-based, using real features to build skill through repetition, sessioning, and feedback.
You’ll work on key skills to improve your ability to navigate rock gardens, both up and down:
Line Choice & Precision: identifying rideable lines, adjusting on the fly, and choosing between smoother vs. more direct options
Momentum & Pedal Timing: ratcheting, timing pedal strokes, and carrying speed through technical sections without stalling
Body Position & Stability: staying balanced and loose over the bike to absorb impacts and maintain traction
Sessioning for Skill Development: repeating key rock sections to break down technique and build confidence
Prerequisite: This class is designed for experienced intermediate riders who are confident on blue trails (you’ve completed our 202 class or equivalent). You are comfortable riding for 2–3 hours on technical terrain and have experience with rocky trails, steeper sections, and uneven surfaces. You regularly ride trails like Evergreen Mountain, Lair O the Bear or North table with confidence, and have managed more challenging trails like Bergen, Mt Falcon, Apex or Chimney with some walking.
Equipment: A well-maintained mountain bike with flat or clipless pedals, a dropper seatpost, and hydraulic disc brakes is required. Helmets are mandatory; gloves, eye protection, and knee pads are strongly encouraged. Some light snacks will be available from the instructor, but please bring your preferred snacks and water/hydration mix to maintain energy. Weather can be variable, so a light jacket is recommended.
This class leaves from the Buchanan Rec Center parking lot at the Painter's Pause Trailhead.
