Buchanan Park:

In response to 30 years of community support and what we learned during recent strategic planning, EPRD is now creating concepts for improvements to our 42-acre Buchanan Park and Buchanan Park Rec Center over the next five years.

October 2025 Progress Update

  • Buchanan Park Location & Extent Permit Hearing – approved by Jefferson County Planning & Zoning Commission with unanimous support!
Buchanan Park Progress Updates 

January 2024

  • EPRD starts community engagement and planning for Buchanan Park Improvements with our first community meeting. 

April 2024

  • EPRD was awarded $40,000 from the Jefferson County Youth Partnership Program through the Broncos Stadium Grant.

May 2024

  • On May 8 EPRD hosted 35 community members including Jefferson County Commissioner Andy Kerr to WALK THE PARK and discuss proposed improvements to Buchanan Park.
  • EPRD Board adopts initial concept plan for Buchanan Park. 

November 2024

  • EPRD received a $35,000 grant from the Boettcher Foundation. 
  • EPRD Board adopts revised plan for Buchanan Park.

December 2024

  • EPRD received a $80,000 grant from Colorado Gives Foundation. 

January 2025

  • EPRD received a $202,500 grant from Jeffco Open Space Trails Partnership Program

August 2025

  • Friends Of Buchanan Park succesfully raised over $80,000 to be split between the New Inclusive Playground, the Performance Pavillion and the Skate Park.  

Funding Details

Because of your property tax contributions and the community’s support of approved ballot measure 6C in 2023, this project is now becoming a reality. We are currently entering the finish-line fundraising stage to help bring important enhancements—like community gathering spaces—to life and we’d love your help.
