The Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) Green Team is a dedicated group of EPRD staff members united by a shared commitment to sustainability. Their mission is to increase sustainability and improve environmental impacts of EPRD activities, events, and facilities. In collaboration with community partners and volunteers, the Green Team works to create a greener, more sustainable future for both the District and the Evergreen community as a whole!
EPRD is proud to be a certified Silver-level member of the Colorado Green Business Network (CGBN), a program of the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability and our dedication to building a greener future for Evergreen and the state of Colorado. As part of the CGBN, we also gain access to valuable resources and support that help us advance our environmental initiatives and continue making meaningful progress. EPRD is excited to grow our E.C.O. (Evergreen Cleanup Operation) Hub program at our 2026 events!
These staffed waste stations provide designated areas for compost, recycling, and landfill sorting. With events generating some of our largest waste volumes, our goal is to divert at least 50% of event waste from the landfill—and with the support of our partners and concertgoers, we’re confident we can reach it!
Each event features three ECO Hubs, and these will be the only locations for waste disposal. Look for the yellow flags to find the hubs and do your part to help us reduce waste and protect our environment.
Want to get involved?
EPRD is seeking volunteers to help staff the ECO Hubs during the concerts. If you're interested in joining the effort, please sign up for a shift here: ECO Hub Volunteer Sign Up

- ✅ Plan and implement sustainable strategies and components across our 2026 Capital Improvement Projects (Ex. Gym/Field House Addition, Buchanan Park Improvements Projects).
- ♻️ Improve patron-facing recycling practices in our public facilities, including recreation centers and parks.
- 🌊 Host Evergreen Lake Cleanup Events to protect our local environment
- 🍃 Continue to develop ECO Hubs at EPRD events to expand efforts for composting, recycling, and landfill sorting
EPRD’s Green Team was established in 2023—and we hit the ground running!
Here are some of the exciting sustainability milestones we’ve accomplished so far:
- Partnered with QuikTrip to salvage as much of the Historic El Rancho building as possible. We will keep vintage, useful building materials out of the landfill and save on building costs. In addition, we will also be saving as much of the landscaping and hardscape as possible from the landfill. These materials and items will be repurposed in our Buchanan Park Improvements!
- Awarded the Evergreen Impact Award by the Evergreen Sustainability Alliance in 2025, recognizing EPRD's accomplishments in sustainable operations, leadership, and collaboration.
- Created Sustainable Events Guidelines to improve internal practices and reduce waste at District events
- Secured a $17,000 grant from the Crush It Crusade (Can’d Aid) to launch ECO Hubs and enhance recycling efforts at EPRD events and facilities
- Implemented a Green Construction Policy to prioritize sustainability and environmental impact in all EPRD construction and service contracts
- Organized ongoing community trash cleanup events throughout the year
- Launched a paid volunteer program for EPRD staff, supporting engagement with local nonprofits and environmental initiatives
- Advanced to Silver-Level certification with the Colorado Green Business Network (CGBN) through the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment
- Hosted community Earth Day celebrations
- Purchased the District’s first electric vehicle for operations
- Switched to a waste hauler that includes recycling services
We’re just getting started—and there’s more green progress ahead!
