Gymnastics and Aerial Fabrics

Evergreen Park & Recreation District has a Gymnastics Gym located in Wulf Recreation Center. Programs are offered from 8mo - adult.
Evergreen Park & Recreation District offers Adult and Youth patrons the opportunity to drop into the Gymnastics Gym at Wulf Recreation Center throughout the week.

CLASSES are held at Wulf Recreation Center
Tumblebugs (8 months to 3 years)
- 45 mins of open free play and exploration. A child driven class, great for gross motor development and socialization for ages 3 & under. Parent participation required. Drop in option available. Please follow all safety rules posted in gym.

Doodlebugs (8 months to 3 years)
- Parent-child art and gymnastics class. Helps develop social skills, gross motor, fine motor and friendships. Class is 45 min of tumblebugs and 30 mins of art. For ages 3 & under. Choose the class session with the best class time for you.

Parent & Tot (2 years 6 months to 3 years)
- A Parent & child gymnastics class that encourages and teaches following directions on structured circuits to help children develop independence and confidence. Please dress your child in comfortable, fitted clothing with no buttons or zippers. Wear hair out of face if possible.

Mini Tots (3 years)
- An age-appropriate class focusing on fundamental gymnastics skill development. Children learn body awareness, balance, separation from parents, taking turns and making friends. A great get ready for preschool class. Recommended that child takes a parent and tot class before enrolling into mini tots.Please wear comfortable fitted clothing with no buttons or zippers and hair tied back.

Mighty Tots (4 years)
- An age-appropriate fundamental gymnastics skills class focusing on body awareness, and motor development for 4 year-olds, listening, taking turns, following directions, and making friends. Please dress your child in comfortable, fitted clothes with no buttons or zippers. Wear hair tied back and out of face.

Creative Kids (4 to 12 years)
- Creative kids is a multiple skills experience for ages 4+, focusing on the arts, dance & gymnastics! We will split into 3 groups and rotate between each event. Come meet some friends, learn a new skill and explore with us. Please dress in comfortable, fitted clothes with no buttons or zippers and hair tied back. Bring a paint shirt.

Tot Tumble Time (8 months to 5 years)

Kinderkids (5 to 6 years)
- A fundamental coed gymnastics class focusing on beginning gymnastics skills. A great class that helps kids transition from preschool to beginner recreation classes. Please wear comfortable, fitted clothing with no buttons or zippers and hair tied back.

- A FUNdamental coed gymnastics class focusing on learning skills through obstacle courses, challenges and games. A great class for beginners to try out gymnastics in a FUN and engaging way. Please wear comfortable, fitted clothing with no buttons or zippers and hair tied back.

- An introduction to gymnastics class, teaching basic skills on different events.Classes are skill based, not aged based.
A sampler of Beginning skills include,
Floor: Arabesques, chasse, forward rolls, backward rolls, bridges, handstands, cartwheels or kick ups to handstand.
Pommel horse/mushroom: pike & straddle holds, pendulum swings, circles.
Rings: controlled swings, basket hold, skin the cats, inverted candle stick, pull-ups.
Bars: Jump to front support, casts, pullovers, glides.
Vault: Shape jumps, tight body falls, donkey kicks, heel drives, running & punching, dive rolls. - Register:

Intermediate Girls Gymnastics (6 to 17 years)
- This class is the next level after beginning girls gymnastics. Gymnasts must pass an evaluation or get approval from instructor to move to intermediate.A sampler of Intermediate skills include:
Floor: Forward rolls, backward rolls to push up position, bridges (narrow arms), handstands forward rolls, cartwheels & cartwheel step-ins, Round off shapes, chasse, step leap.
Bars: Casts, pullovers, pike glides, shoot thru & cut backs, controlled forward rolls, candlestick shape holds, back hip circle.
Beam: Mounts, releve walks, pivot turns, snap turns, lunge lever handstands.
Vault: Shape jumps, heel drives, running & punching feet to feet, handstand flatbacks.
Please dress in a leotard and shorts with hair tied back. - Register:
Advanced Boys & Girls Gymnastics (6 to 17 years)
- Boys
- Advanced boys gymnastics class teaches higher level skills on different events. Boys must pass the beginning level and be invited to the Advanced class.Classes are skill based, not aged based.
A sampler of advanced skills include,
Floor: Arabesques, chasse, forward rolls, backward rolls, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, round offs, handstand roll downs, dive rolls, press handstands, front tucks. back handsprings
Pommel horse/mushroom: pike & straddle holds, pendulum swings, half circles, scissor cuts, shoo thru to pike.
Rings: controlled swings, basket hold, skin the cats, inverted candle stick, pull-ups., under-swings, dismount
Bars: Jump to front support, casts, pullovers, back hip circles, glides, dismounts.

- Advanced boys gymnastics class teaches higher level skills on different events. Boys must pass the beginning level and be invited to the Advanced class.Classes are skill based, not aged based.
- Girls
- Advanced girls gymnastics is a class for girls who have passed the intermediate evaluation and approved by coach to move up. Advanced is a great class for girls who are not interested or ready to pursue team gymnastics but wants to continue building gymnastics skills. Evaluations are performed in October and April. If you do not know your child's level, you can schedule an evaluation. Please wear a leotard or comfortable, fitted clothing with no buttons or zippers and hair tied back and out face.
- If your child has passed intermediate and is interested in team please tell your coach. Evaluations would determine if ready for preteam.

Pre-Team
- Hot Shots
- 55-minute class for girls ages 4-6 working toward the girls competitive team, with instructor approval. (2X/wk)
- Pre-Team (6 to 17 years)
- Pre Team is the time to help your gymnast build their foundation for their career as a gymnast. This is the time to focus on strengthening and developing their muscles, habits and form. Class is 2X per week for 85 minutes.
USAG XCEL PROGRAM
The Xcel program is a competitive gymnastics program designed for athletes of varying skill levels. Offering individual flexibility to coaches and gymnasts. The program emphasizes sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, personal growth, development of skills and a rewarding gymnastics experience.
XCEL Girls
- Competitive gymnastics with a lower cost and time commitment
- Less rigid and more customizable path in competitive gymnastics
- Levels range from Bronze to Diamond
- Practices start two times a week for 2hrs (Bronze)
- The time commitment goes up from there as your gymnast progresses through the levels

* Please dress in comfortable, fitted, stretchy clothing that covers your arm pits and knees. Yoga pants and t-shirts are great. Have your hair pulled back. Please no jewelry/watches or long nails as they can rip or tear fabrics.
Intro Class (6 to 17 Years)
- This class focuses on the foundations of aerial fabric. You will learn the basics and strengthening to help you develop your aerial fabric skills. The class starts with a warmup which can include rope climbing and stretching. Then a warmup on fabrics that involves strengthening. After your warmups we will get into basics of aerial fabric including slip knot poses, swings and introduction to climbing. Your child will have to share fabrics in this class and will have side stations to help with their balance and flexibility.

Beginner Class (7 to 17 Years)
- *You must have taken Intro aerial fabric for at least 3 months within the last year to register.This class will start with a warmup which can include rope climb, stretching and then a warmup on fabric that involves strengthening. You will be building off the basics that you have learned in Intro to Aerial Fabric. We will expand your aerial fabric knowledge with more advanced poses, foot locks and some drops. In this class you will work towards putting what you have learned together in sequences. Your child will have to share fabrics in this class and will have side stations to help with their balance and flexibility.

- Master all of your movements and poses
- Add additional drops and fun skills in a more advanced fabric world

Adult Class (16 to 99 Years)
- No experience is necessary. Increase your strength through aerial fabric moves.

ARTNASTICS Camp (3 - 15 Years)
- Join us for four afternoons of FUN focused on ART and GYMnastics each day! Children will learn some basic art elements and create a one of a kind masterpiece by the end of camp. Please bring a snack, water bottle, paint shirt, and wear comfortable clothing with no buttons or zippers with hair tied back.
CHEERLEADING Camp (5 - 15 Years)
- Camp will be filled with cheering routines, jumps and basic tumbling. Participants will be taught basic cheer moves, jumping techniques and basic tumbling skills. Camp is outside on the field, weather permitting. Please bring tennis shoes, water bottle, sunglasses and/or a hat, sunscreen and snack.
CIRCUS Camp (5 - 15 Years)
- Acrobats and Aerial Fabrics, join us for a great time in circus camp. This camp is a fun introduction to the art of partner acrobatics as well as aerial fabrics. Build strength and increase flexibility through partner drills, learn how to fly, base and spot foundational poses and dynamics transitions. Also learn how to climb, pose, and swing on the aerial fabrics. Please wear athletic clothing. No partner or experience necessary.
CREATIVE KIDS Camp (3 - 15 Years)
- Creative kids camp will focus on the arts, dance & gymnastics! We will split into 3 groups and rotate between each event. Come meet some friends, learn a new skill and explore with us. Please dress in comfortable, fitted clothes with no buttons or zippers and hair tied back. Bring a paint shirt, snack and a water bottle.

See what it’s like to be a gymnast. Little ones can bounce and pounce through our gymnastics jungle with adventure themes, obstacle courses, circuits, and games. Others can join our trained professionals in recreational classes to teach coordination, strength, and flexibility while working gymnastics skills on each event. EPRD even offers gymnasts the opportunity to compete in the nationally-based USA Gymnastics league.
And that’s not all. The exciting aerial program offers beginner through advanced classes to learn to fly and the Ninja program allows kids to develop strength and motor skills. Details regarding classes, registration, open gymnastics, private lessons, and policies are below:
Skill Evaluation for Placement Level
- If your child has never been in gymnastics or has not participated in our program, please read the class descriptions or call for an evaluation
- Correct placement of your child will contribute to their successful progression
- Progress evaluations are done in the fall and the spring
Youth and Adult Registration
Classes fill quickly, so register early, If the class you want is full, you may be placed on a waiting list. To arrange additional classes for schools or day care groups, call the Recreation Supervisor of Gymnastics at 720-880-1227.
