The Climbing Pinnacle at BPRC
Located at Buchanan Park Recreation Center (BPRC), the 41-foot rock-like freestanding pinnacle is located in the rotunda of the building. Sculptured and custom holds are embedded throughout the wall, and an overhang will challenge even the most advanced climbers. Note: Climbers must wear sturdy closed-toe shoes. Crocs, sandals, and skirts are not allowed on the wall.
All climbing is at Buchanan Park Recreation Center (BPRC).
Adaptive Climbing Class - Adults
For people of all ages with intellectual and physical disabilities, our trained climbing wall instructors will help participants reach new heights with Adaptive Climbing Wall sessions. Climbing can help improve strength, flexibility and confidence.
Beginner Climbing Class (14 Years to Adult)

Want in intro to indoor rock climbing?? This is the class for you!
- During these classes, students will learn proper warm ups, basic climbing movement, body positioning, and tools to manage the mental and emotional challenges of rock climbing!
- By the end of this course, students will be able to tie a proper Figure Eight Follow-Through knot, stopper knot, knowledge and use of proper climbing commands, and proper assisted belaying technique.
- **** There is no prerequisite class for this course, however, age restrictions are in place and are not waivable unless a birthday occurs during the session.
- Classes sessions are offered on Thursday or Saturday

Intermediate Climbing Class
Took our beginner class and are not sure what to do next? Here is the next step!!
- In our Intermediate level classes, students will progress knowledge learned in our beginner courses. This class will also introduce route visualization, rope care basics, intermediate knot tying, independent and partner equipment checks, intermediate climbing commands, identifying improperly tied knots, and poorly configured belay devices.
- **** You must have taken the beginner course within the last calendar year or pass a Beginner Course exit exam with a lead climber before registration will be permitted. Age restrictions are in place and are not waivable unless a birthday occurs during the session.

Advanced Climbing Classes
Ready to tackle the Pinnacle with advanced level skills?
- In our Advanced course, climbers will expound on knowledge learned during our Intermediate Course.
- Climbers will develop more strength, endurance, advanced techniques, technical independence, and an introduction to lead climbing.
- Students will apply their understanding of equipment, knots, hitches, communication, technique, movement and identifying unsafe systems to project advanced climbs, and set progressive goals for themselves.
- **** You must have taken the Intermediate Course within the last calendar year or pass an Intermediate Course exit exam with a lead climber before registration will be permitted. Age restrictions are in place and are not waivable unless a birthday occurs during the session.
