Preserving the Essence of El Rancho
In late 2025, Evergreen Park & Recreation District was made aware that the existing El Rancho Building was not movable and that it would be demolished. With our expansion of facilities at Buchanan Park, we thought “why not salvage as much of El Rancho as possible and keep it as a public space". Understanding the importance of this landmark to the community, QuikTrip has partnered with EPRD to save the essence of El Rancho. By salvaging as much of the building as possible, we will keep vintage, useful building materials out of the landfill and save on building costs. In addition, we will also be saving as much of the landscaping and hardscape as possible from the landfill. This recovery project will help us build a warm and welcoming tribute to El Rancho and keep many of the memorable parts of the inside and outside of the building in our community for everyone to enjoy. This space will be attached to the new performance pavilion and will keep the essence of El Rancho alive in our beautiful Buchanan Park.
