Come one, come all! EPRD is excited to announce the 1st Annual Fall Fishing Classic at the Buchanan Park Fishing Ponds! This is open to all audiences, without age minimums or restrictions! This event is a Competition-Style Fishing Tournament, with categories and prizes based on age groups and type of fishing.

There are 2 Categories of Fishing allowed during this event, which are:

• Fly Fishing
• Spin-Cast Fishing

These age groups include:

• Kids (Ages 3-11)
• Youth (12-17)
• Adult (18+)

Prizes in the form of Plaques, EPRD Swag, and Fishing Equipment will be awarded for the following categories, per age group and type of fishing:

• Biggest Fish (Length-Weight used in event of a tie)
• Smallest Fish (Overall)
• Most Fish (Caught & Officiated)
• Color-Tagged Fish (Special prize for each)

EPRD Staff and official volunteers will be providing tips, tricks, and officiating each catch. Lunch, drinks, music, vendors, and shade will be provided by EPRD, all other equipment and necessary items to fish must be provided by the participants.

All participants MUST register online prior to the event in order to participate. Wristbands can be picked up at the EPRD tent next to the fishing ponds at BPRC before the event starts. Check-in begins at 8am, Official fishing time begins at 9:00AM sharp and will conclude precisely at 1:00PM. Lunch and drinks will be available for all registered attendees starting at 11:30am-1:00pm, with the official Awards Ceremony starting at 1:15pm. Live Music provided by local artists and bands will be provided from 11:00AM-1:00PM.

**All Catches must be recorded with Event Staff in order to count. This includes Species, Time, Weight, Length, and # of Fish Caught. All Trout must be netted and remain in the water until Recording of that Fish is complete. Any Catch that is not netted and officiated will not be counted. Staff will be making constant rounds, simply flag down any staff to record your catch info and get right back to fishing! Sign up is limited, so reserve your spot today!

All posted EPRD Lake Rules must be followed at all times, including:

 

  • Nets and barbless flies are required for those fly fishing
  • For Spin-Cast Fishing, NO LIVE BAIT OR POWERBAIT will be allowed. Use of any live bait or Powerbait will result in elimination from fishing derby. Spinners, Jigs, Plastic Baits, etc. are allowed with barbless hooks.
  • Catch and release only.
  • No state fishing license required.
  • Wristbands must be worn while fishing; available on-site at time of event.
  • No individual fishing permits will be sold during this event, fishing is only for participants in the fishing derby.
  • One line (pole) per person only.
  • No float tubes will be permitted during this event.
