April Newsletter: Spring Has Sprung!

A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Happy Spring Evergreen,
The weather this year is bringing an early spring to the foothills!  The Aspens are budding, the birds are nesting and we have opened the boating season at Evergreen Lake earlier than ever before (pending weather!).  We also have many exciting projects accross the district starting.  If you are on the Buchanan Park ball fields, you can see all of the dirt work happening to get our new skatepark, performance pavilion and inclusive playground started.  We had tons of boulders generously donated from the Floyd Hill project for our playground and park features, they will be great places to play king of the castle.  We are also breaking ground this month on our aquatics expansion project at Buchanan Park Recreation Center.  This state of the art facility will provide 8 competition lanes, a rock climbing wall, new bathrooms and a home to our water recreation programs and local swim teams.  You can safely observe our progress from the walking trails around the ponds.  We have placed signs around the park to direct you around construction zones and give you detour options if you are out enjoyng the trails.  This is a very exciting time as we improve our current park and facilities to elevate the lives of our community!

    • Transportation from Bergen, Wilmot and Parmalee is provided to the Rec Centers, for an afternoon of fun filled activities. Swimming, Cooking and more!
  • After School Enrichments:
    • There is a little bit of everything for your child to enjoy while attending enrichments. Lego's, Chess, Art, Circus time, gymnastics, dance and more.
  • School Age Breaks:
    • April 24
      • Fun filled activities and field trips while engaging with your peers.

Do you want to make a difference in the future of parks and recreation offerings in Evergreen? Are you interested in learning about government processes? If you answered yes to any of the above, then this volunteer opportunity is for you! EPRD is accepting applications for the next Youth Advisory Board Member. Candidates must be high school age. Applications will remain open until the position is filled.Applications Open!
