EPRD's Green Team is Keeping the GREEN in Evergreen  

  •  ECO Hubs at Summer Concerts 
    • The EPRD Green Team has been hard at work this summer with their ECO Hubs at the 2025 Summer Concert Series! These staffed sorting stations are helping keep compost and recycling out of the landfill. Thanks to the Green Team's efforts as well as the community's participation, we have diverted over 1/3 of the waste from the concerts from the landfill in just the first three concerts! Help us get to our 50% waste diversion goal by recycling/composting at our ECO Hubs at the next summer concert!

Historic Schoolhouse Set for Preservation

  • Buffalo Park School, built in 1877, finds new home in Marshdale Park
    • EPRD, in collaboration with Jefferson County School District and the Evergreen Mountain Area Historical Societ (EMAHS), is proud to announce the relocation of Buffalo Park School to it's new permanent home in Marshdale Park. 
    • The 10x15 schoolhouse held as many as 22 students when in use.  In 1966, the Evergreen Women's Club acknowledged the historical importance of the building and had it renovated and moved to Wilmot Elementary property.  Info courtesy of John Steinle's images of America Evergreen  
    • Once restored, the little schoolhouse will serve as a hub for educational and living-history programs for children and adults alike - preserving a treasured piece of Evergreen's past for generations to come.

Buchanan Park Improvements

    • In less than one year, six different agencies have joined the effort to improve Buchanan Park with grant awards totaling more than 1 million dollars and another $100,000 has been raised by community members and organizations.  
    • Below are some upcoming events dedicated to more fundraising.  Join the Friends of Buchanan Park to bring the park from Good to Great!

Buchanan Park Rec Center Pool Expansion 

  • Aquatics Expansion at Buchanan Rec Center is a GO!
    • Planning is underway to finalize the new state of the art 8-lane pool adjacent to our exisiting leisure pool! 
    • We heard your ideas at the stakeholder meetings hosted throughout this year and engaged an arhictect & engineering firm to design the new aquatics space.  Our construction management team has been selected and we are projecting a 2026 start date with a 2027 grand opening.  We will continue to update our Buchanan Park and Rec Center Improvements page with information.
