MTB - Co-Ed Clinic - Little Scraggy - Slabs and Cornering

Dial in your technique on one of Buffalo Creek's most iconic trails!
This 4-hour, on-trail clinic takes place in the Little Scraggy Trail, a blue-rated singletrack known for its large, slabby rock features and loose "kitty litter" gravel that demands great cornering technique. This clinic is entirely trail-based, using real features to build confidence and skill through sessioning and repetition.
You'll work on:
- Rock Slab Climbing and Descending: Body position, weight distribution, and braking for maintaining traction on steep slab features and rock rolls
- Cornering & Berms on Loose Gravel: bike body separation to maximize traction, different techniques for flat vs bermed corners, and improving line choice for speed
- Sessioning for skill development: we will repeat features to break down complexity and build confidence.
Prerequisite: This class is designed for experienced intermediate riders who are confident on blue trails (you've completed our 202 class or equivalent). You are comfortable riding for 2-3 hours on a variety of terrain, including areas with rocky obstacles, switchbacks, and sustained climbs and descents. You've likely ridden Buffalo Creek or Staunton and have tried or would like to try the "black" options where some of the trails ave two line options.
Equipment: A well-maintained mountain bike with flat or clipless pedals, a dropper seatpost and hydraulic disc brakes is required. Helmets are mandatory; gloves and eye protection are strongly encouraged. Some light snakcs will be available from the instructor, but please bring your preferred snacks and water/hydration mix to ensure you're maintaining energy for the trail ride. Weather can be variable, so a light jacket is encouraged as well.
This clinic leaves from the Little Scraggy Trailhead, which has an $11 day use fee to park. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and parking.
